Moms & Neighbors helps families and teens in District 196 that find themselves in need of support due to unexpected situations. Assistance is tailored to the recipient and can include gift cards for items such as gas, groceries, or clothing, or help with utility bills and housing payments.

We work closely with Community Advocates—school counselors, social workers, faith leaders, and law enforcement—to identify families and teens in need. Our volunteer Kindness Ambassadors review all requests for assistance and present them to the Moms & Neighbors Board for voting. If a request is approved, the Kindness Ambassador works with the Community Advocate to deliver the assistance to the family or teen. To ensure privacy and legitimacy, all requests must come from a Community Advocate. The recipient’s privacy is protected at all times; names are never used.
